Erica was awarded the New Leader Award from the College of Education and Human Ecology at her alma mater, The Ohio State University, for her innovation in school leadership.

 

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "Ideas worth spreading". It supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community. Erica was as one of 12 speakers selected to deliver a talk a 2017 TedxCharlotte entitled "How Do We Pay Our Teachers More?". Check out her talk below!

Erica Jordan-Thomas is a Columbus, Ohio native. She is a first-year doctoral student in Education Leadership at Harvard Graduate School of Education , who recently made a trip to Thailand. We spoke with her about her program and her recent visit to Thailand to study their education system.

What has slowed growth in the number of African American school principals in the United States? This was the question that opened “Black Principals: How to Strengthen the Leadership Pipeline,” a panel held during the 46th Annual Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Leadership Conference.
